she died at 22. Caught a cold and died of pneumonia. no 911. no 7-11. no car to drive to town to see the doctor. dead.
now dad and his brothers and sister are left to fend for themselves. yep, think about that.
mom and dad christmas 1958.
left2right. dinky, dan, uncle RB, jetta, barbara, grandma jackson, dad, arnold paul, and papa jackson with his typical for the day photo pose. mom taking the pic.
at this point mom had caught dad cheating at least 4 or 5 times. Worst time for me was when he was unemployed, and had told mom we were going fishing. Instead he took me to the mesquite bank parking lot in 104 degree summer weather. Left me alone in the car at age 6. Went in the front door of the bank and out the back door to his hoe's house for two hours of fun. His mistake was to go back home instead of taking me fishing. I was waiting on the front porch for mom to come home from work at 4:30. His lame explanation was he was doing business at the bank. Mom new better. We had NO money. He was unemployed. Still remember that day very well. he never stopped even with Sue. As she told Cindi. duh.
Moms costly decision.
17 year old mom.
almost pregnant with me.
moms best friend.
moms first boyfriend. She told me many times how much she loved him. After being married to dad for a few years, and his constant cheating, she knew she had made a bad decision. A decision that only got worse right up to the day she died.
mom and dad in Vancouver. Two draft dodgers living on top of a mountain with their mini-bikes. Saluting the U.S.
Ford let them all come back with no trouble. At least they lived. I guess.
my baby rabbits.
this was the last night me and mom went to papa halcomb's house for christmas eve. She caught grandma halcomb giving her blood grandson Terry, a basketball in front of the house. I was the one who played basketball not terry. Every grand-kid got pj's.
As you can see in the background she was pissed.
our trip to the Astrodome. 1965.
