Meshack's Bar-Be-Que SHACK...
meshack's is a bbq shak deluxe. james meshack passed away in 1986. now his daughter has re-opened and is doing a superb job. NO it does not have tables & chairs. NO they don't sell beer. No there not open on Sunday. NO they don't take checks or credit cards. NO they don't have a nice parking lot. But what you do get is some of the best tasting bbq in dfw. just like how they are ranked. #5 in DFW. don't cry cuz they might be closed when you get there after work at 4 pm. they close when they are outa meat. get there sooner. mr. james feed me and my friends many times back in the early 80's. now his daughter and family are cooking and doing excellent. ribs where perfect. my wife went back and got another chopped beef samich. she never does that. one of the few places you can go and get a slice of brisket by itself. call it "old school". i call it "bbq heaven".
my wife going back for her 2nd chopped beef samich...
FULL parking lot on sat. afternoon... "says it all".
According to a D Magazine article, Travis Mayes “The BBQ Man,” as he’s known in Garland, is no newcomer. Barbecue runs deep in the veins of this family. Travis’ wife Donna spent many years perfecting her baked beans and potato salad while working with her father at one of his four joints in Dallas, all of which carried the Meshack name. When her father passed in 1986, she and Travis kept the Garland location running until 1996. They closed, took other jobs, only to reopen again in May 2009. Meshack's was selected as "Best BBQ" by Big D Magazine in 2010.
