A Day in the Line @FranklinBBQ Aug. 27th 2011

Laurie dropped me off at 9:15 am in front of Franklin BBQ Austin to be first in line.  Then have plenty of time to be rested for the Gettin Sauced event later that day.  She left to drop off my sauce at the event site, then swing back by and pick me up.  30 minute's later she calls saying no one was there.  Long story short, by the time I got back, 100 people where in front standing in the 110 degree heat. That's were this story begins.

Jonathan Hoo & his family, "from NY" where in Austin on vacation.  They decided to brave the heat and the "Franklin" line to eat some of the best brisket in the country.  We both then took pictures almost simultaneously, his the line in back of him, and me the line in front of me.  A few days later I was surfing on twit-pic and found his picture.  Since then we have became good twitter friends.  Hope to visit NY someday and hang-out at Riverwalk Bar & Grill where he is the owner.

Notice the 2 people in the middle of both pics, the guy looking at his phone.

  1. I am @JonathanHoo and I endorse this post. lol
Only fact that is wrong is that I was down in Auston for a friend's wedding. All of the guests were at the roofdeck pool of the Omni while I was sweating through my shirt in the Austin heat. EVERYONE did love the food though. It was worth the wait. I woul dhave gotten there even earlier next time though.

Looking forward to getting in touch next time I am down in Texas, Ronnie.

May have to have you overnight some BBQ to NYC meanwhile.

    Let's go Giants!
